There is no drinking water in the city, sewerage does not work, exacerbated the situation by many spontaneous burials and mountains of garbage on the streets.
Residents of occupied Mariupol are at risk of epidemics of infectious diseases, dysentery, and plagues. This is what Mayor Vadim Boychenko said on Saturday, May 28, on the air of the telethon.
According to him, there is a very difficult humanitarian situation in Mariupol – no electricity, almost no food, no drinking water.
Now added to this is the real threat of epidemics, which arose due to the large number of spontaneous burials in the city, the dysfunctional sewer system and the accumulation of garbage on the streets without discharge.
The risk of epidemics increases due to the approaching summer and, accordingly, the rise in temperature.
“Our qualified doctors are reporting a risk that may arise this summer. Outbreaks of infectious diseases, dysentery, plagues and other diseases may occur this summer. And these diseases , unfortunately, could deprive thousands of Mariupol residents, ”the Mariupol mayor said.
He called on the UN and Red Cross to unite and create a stable green corridor for the evacuation of citizens.
According to him, more than 100,000 people remain hostage in the city, who have not been released because the city’s filtration centers are closed.
It was earlier learned that the occupiers offered Mariupol residents to rebuild housing on their own.
Recall that 22,000 people died in Mariupol during the three months of the war.
Another 70 bodies were found under the rubble in Mariupol
