The Verkhovna Rada approved in the first reading a draft law on increasing excise tax rates on fuel to the minimum level established in the European Union. LIGA.net writes about this in connection with a message from People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
It was reported that the representatives did not support the government’s bill, but an alternative bill No. 11256-2 with lower excise taxes on liquefied automobile gas (LPG).
227 representatives of the people voted for the bill, with 226 being the minimum required vote.
Pursuant to the provisions of European Directive No. 2003/96/EC, the minimum rate of excise tax shall be: for gasoline – 359 euros per 1000 liters, for diesel fuel – 330 euros per 1000 liters, and for liquefied gas – 125 euros per 1000 kg ( approx. -about 68 euros per 1000 liters).

Currently, the excise tax rate for gasoline is 213.5 euros per 1000 liters, for diesel – 139.5 euros, autogas – 52 euros, alternative fuel – 162 euros.
