The new development of the company may be able to unite to reverse any file and identify potential threats in it.
Microsoft has introduced a prototype of Autonomous Ai-Agense called Project Ire, with the ability to independently study the software and determine if it is harmful. According to the company, the system can conduct reverse development without prior file information, automating a complex process and its scale.
In his work, Project Ire uses decompilers and other tools, collecting data for file security evaluation. At the same time, it provides a transparent chain of evidence.
“System architecture provides to evaluate multiple levels -from low -level binary checks to rebuild control flows and high interpretations of code conduct,” Microsoft said.
The main task of Project Ire is to reduce the number of errors and fatigue of analysts, to accelerate the response to threats and strengthen protection against new types of attacks.
In the tests conducted in the Sample of Windows drivers containing both harmful and safe files, the system properly classified 90% of them and in only 2% of cases it mistakenly defined safe files as dangerous. In another experiment, which included 4 thousand files prepared for the reverse analysis of experts, the project correctly identified 9 of the 10 malicious files at the level of false positive that triggered 4%. At the same time, total accuracy remained moderate – almost a -quarter of all real threats were discovered.
Microsoft admitted that the results were far from perfect, but they emphasized: the test was conducted in difficult conditions, and now the system shows “true potential for future deployment.”
