According to sappers, one day of active fighting in Ukraine is equivalent to one month of demining.

Mine clearance is being carried out in the occupied territories of the Kharkiv region. The sappers of the National Guard defused more than a thousand pieces of explosive ordnance. This was reported by the Eastern Operational-Territorial Association of the National Guard.

NSU engineering personnel are working on the territory of Zolochevsky, Dergachevsky and Kharkov regions, which were liberated from the Russian invaders two weeks ago. Among the most numerous inherited settlements are Makarovo, Turovo, Dementievka, Udy and Goptovka.

Explosive items such as Smerch and Uragan MLRS cluster munitions, artillery shells, grenade launcher rounds, hand grenades, anti-personnel and anti-tank mines were defused.

“The sappers work at a safe distance from each other – it is 50-100 meters. Depending on the pollution of the area, the specialist spends as much time as he needs to clean the territory – can he walks 100 meters in 10 minutes or in an hour or two”, – said the commander of the demining group, National Guard Trotyl.

Sappers focus on cleaning roads, roadsides, residential buildings, state and public institutions, schools and kindergartens. The occupiers widely used various methods of ammunition and mining, ignoring the provisions of the Geneva Convention.

“Before entering the de-occupied settlement, we were conducting engineering reconnaissance. In Kazachya Lopan, civilian buildings and streets were marked by the enemy, and hand grenades were found under almost every pillow. The enemy combined the TM-62 anti-tank mine, instead of a standard explosive with anti-personnel mines PMN-2, where the trigger force is 8-25 kilograms. During the demining of the Makarov school, a sapper died from in my group. It was completely mine – doors, windows, classrooms, a playground,” explained Trotil.

Mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices pose a danger to civilians, but civilians often ignore warning signs and explode as they drive at their own risk through mines, along roads, forests and forests.

“Anti-tank mines are searched with a probe and a metal detector. Using a probe, a sapper also identifies plastic engineering bullets, to which the metal detector does not respond. If the stretch marks are caught, it was not removed, but destroyed. on the spot. Engineering ammunition was installed with a MUV fuse [МУВ-2, МУВ-3 и МУВ-4, аббревиатура с рус. языка — модернизированный упрощенный взрыватель] was not neutralized, but also destroyed,” said Trotyl.

The engineers of the National Guard in the liberated border territories work together with the units of the State Emergency Service and the Armed Forces. According to the sappers themselves, one day of active combat is equivalent to one month of demining.

It can be remembered that in the past day in the Kharkiv region, nine civilians were killed due to shooting by Russian aggressors.
