Director Mstislav Chernov documentary will compete for the nomination the best international full-length film in the 98th Oscar.
Ukrainian film was 2000 meters before Andreevka, director Mstislav Chernov, would be a national contender for the Oscar award in the Best International Film category. This was announced by the Ukrainian Oscar Committee.
The choice was made by a specialized group of 12 committee members – film and critics, chosen by members of the voting of the academic film of Ukrainian.
As mentioned on the committee, this tape is a “non-compromise loyal and piercing the documentary acts that sink into the reality of the Russian-Ukrainian War through human-fragile experience, tired and at the same time full of dignity.”
Mstislav Chernov commented on the decision:
“We will do everything possible so that the voices of Ukraine and the Ukrainian military are heard. Now it seems to be important when in the morning how the bodies of civilians get garbage. And it implies greater responsibility to us, the documentaries of the artists, to speak around the world, to scream about what is happening, even to think.
A shorter than 15 international films will be announced on December 16, 2025, the five nominees will be identified on January 22, 2026. The 98th Academy Award presentation ceremony will be held on March 15, 2026.
