Putin’s nephew accidentally revealed the number of Russian soldiers missing in the war against Ukraine.
At least 48 thousand Russians who participated in the war against Ukraine are considered missing. This figure was announced at a meeting in the State Duma by the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Anna Tsivileva. The Russian TG channel Astra reported this on Wednesday, December 4.
“All the relatives who contacted us [пропавших без вести]… 48 thousand,” said Tsivileva.
According to him, DNA samples were taken from relatives “absolutely free of charge” to find and identify these individuals. At the same time, those who signed the contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense were required to provide “literal epithelial samples,” which were then “deciphered” and added to the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tsivileva clarified.
The Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrei Kartapolov, who was present at the meeting, asked the deputies not to reveal the number of missing people.
“This is classified information, quite sensitive. When we compile the final documents, make sure that these numbers do not appear there,” he noted.
The Deputy Minister of Defense hastened to clarify: “I did not mention the number of missing people, but the number of appeals to us [родственники] they will find it. Therefore, it is a number of requests, not statistics.”
Tsivileva is a cousin of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the wife of Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev. It is on the US and EU sanctions list.
Let’s recall that, according to the General Staff, from February 24, 2022 to December 4, 2024, the total combat losses of Russian personal troops on the territory of Ukraine amounted to approximately 747,370 people (+1670 per day).
It is also known that in November the Russian army suffered the largest irreparable and sanitary loss in manpower since the beginning of the large-scale invasion – 45,720 military personnel.
