Cigarette prices will rise: Rada raises excise taxes

Due to the adoption of this bill, next year a pack of cigarettes will increase by approximately 40 Hryvnia.

The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on increasing excise taxes on tobacco products. Cigarettes will increase in price by 40 hryvnias. This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak on Telegram on Wednesday, December 4.

According to him, project No. 11090 was supported in the second reading by 237 deputies.

“Next year, a pack of cigarettes will increase by approximately +40 UAH Perhaps more, because the excise taxes of this law will be linked to the euro and will gradually approach their volume to the minimum requirements of EU,” wrote the representative.

According to the law, in 2025 the specific excise tax rate on cigarettes with and without filters will increase by 23.4% – from 47 to 58 euros per 1,000 pieces.

The minimum tax obligation to pay excise tax will increase by 23.9% – from 63.45 to 78 euros per 1000 units.

In addition, the rates will be calculated not in hryvnias, but in euros.

The document proposes to establish a gradual increase in excise tax rates on tobacco products in the following years.
