The SBU detained agents who organized “observation posts” in rented apartments in Kyiv to adjust the shelling.
The Security Service’s counterintelligence has thwarted Russia’s new attempt to create its own intelligence cells in Kyiv, Poltava and Chernigov.
As a result of a special operation in the capital region, a senior agent (resident) of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (better known as the game) and one of his henchmen were detained.
The detainees turned out to be two residents of the Kiev region who began working for the Russian special services for money.
On the instructions of the occupiers, the defendants adjusted the missile and drone attacks of the Russian Federation and prepared to set fire to electrical substations and service vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
To carry out their tasks, the attackers set up an observation post in a rented apartment in a Kyiv high-rise building with a panoramic view of potential targets – critical infrastructure facilities.
In this house, agents installed video cameras with a remote access program that allowed the game to monitor the streets of Kyiv online.
In this way, the enemy hoped to record the consequences of air strikes on the city and identify air defense firing positions to adjust new attacks.
The sabotage group traveled to Poltava and Chernigov with a similar task. There they first conducted additional reconnaissance near energy facilities, and then planned to create their own cells in both cities.
To do this, they tried to recruit local residents looking for “easy money.” The defendants posted suitable ads in specialized Telegram channels controlled by the Russian special services.
Another task for the new members of the Russian agent network was to set fire to official vehicles of TCC employees and power transformers in three regions of Ukraine.
The security service exposed the organizer of the spy network and his henchman in advance and detained them.
During the searches, video devices, telephones and SIM cards with evidence of explosive activity in favor of Russia were seized from the defendants.
Security Service investigators informed both detainees of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 14 and Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (preparation to commit sabotage under martial law).
The criminal actions of the organizer of the enemy group are additionally qualified under Part 1 of Article 14, Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (preparation for committing actions that impede the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period).
