The SBU and the main intelligence department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense were behind the attacks on Sevastopol, the port of Novorossiysk and the Tuapse oil refinery.
Russia suffered its biggest drone strike since the start of its massive invasion of Ukraine. Behind him are the SBU and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Even Kyiv, of course, does not officially deny or confirm these strikes. In Tuapse, drones hit oil refineries, and in Novorossiysk and Sevastopol, they hit port infrastructure.
You missed it
In the Krasnodar Territory, Novorossiysk and Tuapse were attacked. Local media say more than 30 explosions were heard during the mass attack in Novorossiysk.
The air raid signal on Novorossiysk was canceled just after 7:00. Until this time, public transport had not yet begun to operate, and city residents were asked not to leave their homes for school or work.
As a result of the strikes, the Novorossiysk fuel oil terminal and another fuel tank, as well as two oil depots, were damaged.
In another Black Sea city in the Krasnodar Territory, drones attacked the Tuapse Oil Refinery (owned by Rosneft), which has been repeatedly targeted by drones, like other Russian oil refining facilities .
Sevastopol without lights
In annexed Sevastopol, classes in schools, colleges and kindergartens were canceled due to rolling power outages, as a substation was damaged after a massive attack on the city. It will take at least a day to fully restore substation operation, authorities warned.
“Today’s special operation proved that the Russians cannot defend their main naval bases in Sevastopol and Novorossiysk. All they can do is hide warships in the depths of harbors behind ships civilian. Russians can forget about the dominance of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Ukrainian “cotton” will find them everywhere!” said an informed Ukrainian media source in the country’s intelligence services.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that during the night and morning of May 17, Russian air defenses allegedly destroyed and intercepted 102 UAVs, as well as six naval drones.
The statement of the ministry indicates that 51 drones were shot down over the territory of the occupied Crimea. Six unmanned boats were allegedly destroyed in the Black Sea.
