Major General Vadim Skibitsky said this in an exclusive interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
We’ll see if the plans will be implemented. This requires, firstly, modernization of production, reactivation or creation of new lines. Therefore, we ask our partners that sanctions should be aimed at machines, materials from which electronic chips, microcircuits are made, and so on. Therefore, this is a very wide range; both the Main Intelligence Directorate and our entire intelligence community are now working in this area,” Skibitsky noted.
He said that last year the Russians were able to produce about 2 million 122 mm and 152 mm shells.
According to intelligence data, Russia has already removed all ammunition from Belarus; now there is nothing to take from there.
In February 2024, the Russians planned to launch 130 missiles of the Iskander, Caliber, Kh-101, Kh-32, and Kinzhal classes.
In addition, a center was created in Russia to replace foreign components, especially electronic bases, with Russian-made elements. They are of poorer quality, but allow the production of weapons.
The Russians have already received 1.5 million 122 mm and 152 mm shells from North Korea. This is 70-80 year old ammunition, half of it doesn’t work. In exchange for the supply of shells and missiles, Pyongyang seeks to receive military technologies from Moscow, including those related to nuclear weapons, for the development of its military-industrial complex.
Ukraine has received only 30% of the million shells promised by the EU, President Vladimir Zelensky said on February 25.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called for a ban on the export of shells from Europe to countries other than Ukraine.
This is due to an acute shortage of shells in the Ukrainian army, reports the German media RND.
All contracts for the export of ammunition produced in Europe to third countries must be terminated and all such ammunition must be sent to Ukraine. Every cartridge made in Europe must serve the purpose of protecting Europe, said Dmitry Kuleba.
