Geomagnetic storms cause ultra -suffering emissions of plasma from the sun – coronal mass emissions (CME). Their speed depends on a number of factors and is usually accompanied by solar flashes, which in themselves can cause radio disruption. The Kerrington event was probably powered by a super -powerful flash and a series of previous releases that removed the path for the main blow.
In July and August 2012, the sun released several CMEs, four of which became a prologue in a very good ejection on July 23. The accompanying class X2.5, though it was strong, but was not recorded, however, the release of the coronal itself struck the scientists – its speed reached about 2000 km/s. It is believed that previous releases cleaned the interplanetary space, allowing the plasma to move without obstacles.
