The final decision on this issue must be made by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
The proposal to extend the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products to five neighboring countries after September 15 was made by the head of the office of the European Commissioner for Trade, Michael Geger. This was reported by Polish radio RMF24.
The proposal is based on an analysis of the market situation, taking into account low prices, the impossibility of storing grain in the countries neighboring Ukraine and the growth of Ukrainian exports to other EU countries, which bypassing Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Hungary.
It is not yet known whether we are talking about extending the restrictions until the end of 2023 or for a shorter period. However, the final decision rests with the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
The media suggests that this performance may be a sign that the ban will continue after all.
We remind you that the EU intends to propose to Ukraine to continue the temporary ban on the export of Ukrainian grain to the five EU countries while simultaneously increasing the transit capabilities of the “solidarity corridors”.
As we already wrote, Hungary agreed with Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria to extend the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products after September 15.
Earlier, Poland announced that the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, which was supposed to be in effect until September 15, was extended until the end of the year.
