For nearly four years, “penalties” have set up benefits for popular drugs such as Spasmalgon and Euchasolin Aqua.
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) pays two leading pharmaceutical shares – Badm LLC and the joint Ukrainian -estonian enterprise Optima -Farm LLC, LTD – 4.8 billion hryvnias for violation of competition standards. About this on Thursday, July 31, the AMCU told his official webportal official.
According to the publication, during a committee meeting it was decided to impose a fine of more than 2.374 billion hryvnias in the badm, and more than 2.432 billion hryvnias in Optima -Farm, Ltd.
Penalties were used due to anti-competitive actions consisting of agreed at the establishment of the same or similar prices for drugs from March 2020 to December 2023. As a result of such coordination of companies’ revenue, companies grew rapidly. During the operation of the agreements, Optima -Farm’s net profit has increased 11 times, and badm – 3.5 times (compared to 2019).
In particular, this applies to drugs such as spasmalgon and euchasolin aqua. Such a pricing policy was not accompanied by transparent mechanisms for the development of prices, and the analysis of the wholesale trade market for drugs showed a lack of economic goals for such actions. As a result, the competition is significantly limited to the wholesale segment the sale of drugs.
Keep in mind that President Vladimir Zelensky entered the National Security and Defense Council’s decision to reduce 30% from March 1 from March 1. Later, the Ministry of Health published a list of drugs, prices of which should drop 30% from March 1.
However, manufacturers of drugs in Ukraine did not reduce prices for their products after removing marketing agreements, transferring “offense” as if pharmacies. This is thanks to marketing agreements of pharmacies that can offer discounts on drugs and make it more affordable.
