Throughout the night of March 9, the massive Russian missile attack on the energy infrastructure continued. Restrictions in all regions were used proactively to reduce risks. The resumption of the work of the energy system continues, the power supply is gradually restored.
At the same time, as a result of the attack, damage to energy infrastructure facilities. Therefore, restrictions will be used in Zhytomyr, Kharkiv and Odessa regions.
Repair crews have already left to eliminate the consequences of shelling and resume power supply.
Russian terrorists have not achieved their main goals: the energy system of Ukraine is working, it has not been extinguished, it has not been put together. This is how the power engineers commented on the night strikes on Ukraine.
However, in many regions there is damage to energy infrastructure facilities. There are damages to both thermal stations and substations of Ukrenergo, which is why there is a limitation of electricity supply in some areas.
We are already working on resuming the power supply of all our regions. In some regions, this will be done fairly quickly, in others it will take longer, since the destruction is very significant. The final assessment of the damage done is ongoing. More exact terms of recovery will be able to say before the end of the day. We will work non-stop 24/7 so that 100% of consumers receive a reliable power supply as soon as possible, – Volodymyr Kudrytsky, Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo.
The Ukrainian authorities called the new Russian attack a barbarism with no military purpose.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia wants to intimidate Ukrainians again. Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba expressed the hope that Putin will be tried at a special tribunal for attacks on civilians.
Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the presidential office, recalled that the Russians again fired at sleeping people.
The Russians have returned to the old scheme – to massive rocket attacks on Ukraine at night, when people are sleeping. Explosions and strikes on infrastructure facilities and residential areas have been recorded in most regions. The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant was shut down in an emergency, parts of Ukraine were left without water and electricity,” Podolyak wrote on his Twitter.
