It’s not clear if we’ll see iPhone with a folding screen soon, but it was known that Mansana working on a screen protection system in case of a fall.
The new patent, filed on February 2, 2022 and published on March 16 this year, demonstrates an ingenious system.

patent indicates that a “self-retracting screen” system will be used in the event of a fall.
With sensor, fall detector or accelerometer, it can detect potential fall and automatically close folded cell.
Although it cannot be closed completely, patent guarantees that a drop affecting edges will be better than a drop affecting folding screen.
