Most of the gases in July were imported from Hungary -300 million cubic meters, which was 36% of all imports.
In July, Ukraine imported 833 million cubic meters of natural gas – this is the highest rate since September 2023. This has been proven by expro data.
Compared to June, import volumes rose 1.5 times, while comparing July 2024 – 16 times.
A sharp increase is associated with the preparation for the heat period, in particular, active gas pumping in underground storage facilities (PHG).
Importing structure has changed, almost all gas enters the “customs warehouse” of the Ukrainian PHG -774 million cubic meters or 93% of all imports, of which 3.4 million cubic meters m using short -hul service. In addition, about 59 million cubic meters M (7%) are imported directly in Ukrainian GTS.
Hungary is the main source of gas – 300 million cubic meters (36%). Significant volumes come from Slovakia (268 million cubic meters) and Poland (260 million cubic meters m). 5.1 million cubic meters are imported by the transbalkan route, including 5 million cubic meters from Greece. This volume is fully imported by private entrepreneurs.
In addition, at the end of July, at the first time in test mode, a small amount of Azerbaijani gas from the socar by the direction of transbalkan was received in test mode.
Generally, in January -July 2025, Ukraine imported 2.93 billion cubic gas meters -13 times more than the same period last year. About 90% of this resource purchased NaftogazOver 10% – Private companies.
Most of the gases in 2025 came from Hungary (1.47 billion cubic meters of m), Poland (760 million cubic meters m) and Slovakia (698 million cubic meters m). Part of imports along the transbalkan route was 0.2%.
By November 1, Ukraine plans to accumulate at least 13.2 billion cubic gas meters of PHG. To achieve this goal, in August-October you will need to import another 1.7 billion cubic meters.
As reported, by the end of March, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development approved a loan for Naftogaz 270 million euros for gas purchases.
Ukraine also joined the second batch of gas from the United States – 100 million cubic meters. The gas will be provided in April. It is used to create a strategic reserve for the next heat period.
Keep in mind that operators of Poland and Ukraine’s gas and Ukraine gas transportation systems double -guaranteed throughput – from 6.4 to 12.4 million m³ per day.
