The first world thermonuclear plant was developed to provide the energy of Microsoft’s data centers.
The company from Washington Helion Energy began construction of a installation for thermonuclear synthesis in Chelan County, Orion. The project called Orion aims to produce cheap, clean electricity by 2028 using gasoline obtained from the water.
County Chelan is selected thanks to the existing energy infrastructure and a direct connection to the region’s main energy networks. It is expected that Orion will be part of the Microsoft Data Center Power Center located nearby.
“Today is an important day not only for the helion, but also for the entire thermonuclear industry – we are opening a new freedom of energy,” said co -Founder and CEO Helion David Kurtley.
The company aims to produce non -alcoholic electricity from gasoline. The previous thirty prototype was the first in the private sector to reach the fuel temperature of 100 million degrees Celsius – the threshold required for a commercial thermonuclear reaction.
Back in 2023, Microsoft and Helion signed the world’s first energy purchase agreement from a thermonuclear source, and the constellation energy became an official energy businessman.
According to Microsoft, helion support is part of a broader corporate approach to switch to stable energy sources.
