The tallest 3D-printed tower in the world is being built in Switzerland

The almost abandoned village of Mulegns in the Swiss Alps will feature a multifunctional cultural space – a 30-meter tower that will be the tallest structure in the world created using 3D printing technology. Euronews reported this.

In digital projection, the White Tower of Mulegns looks like part of a sci-fi movie set.

Surrounded by the snowy peaks of the Swiss Alps, the ivory-colored structure towers over the valley like an ancient tree. The structure is strong enough to withstand the cold winters and strong winds found on mountain passes.

Both a concert hall and an art installation, the 30-meter-tall tower will be the tallest 3D-printed structure in the world when it is completed in June.

The implementation of the Tor Alva project began three years ago. It aims to revive the decaying villages of the Julier Pass, once an important transit point between Northern and Southern Europe.

The tower is made from 3D printed concrete using an extrusion method developed at the Department of Building Technology (DBT) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich.

The structure consists of 32 prefabricated columns that can be easily printed and assembled on site. It has five levels, which become more spacious as you climb the spiral staircase to the domed platform at the very top.

We remind you that earlier the Australians broke the record for the tallest pancake tower.
