In Polish Lublin, the fifth group of Ukrainian Legion volunteers signed contracts with the Armed Forces. This was announced by Ukrinform on Friday, August 8.
“There are many dozen citizens of Ukraine at this party who have expressed the desire to join the Ukrainian Legion. The main part is the Ukrainians who lived in Poland at the time of contracting, there were also volunteers who lived in Slovakia and Great Britain,” said the Ukrainian General Consulate representative in Lublin, Peter Gorkush.
According to him, the age category of volunteers in this group is from 21 to 53 years old, there are three women with them.
Gorkusha noted that young people, as a rule, want to become UAV operators, the middle volunteers expressed their desire, for example, to serve artillery units. Some volunteers have an international transport experience, so they expressed the desire to capture drivers’ positions. Some even have medical education, so they decided to join medical units.
He said volunteers from the past four groups have been trained in Poland and are currently undergoing fighting in connection with the point of expanding a military unit in one of the Ukraine regions outside the war zone. And those of them who will last a contract within six months will have the right to move to other units.
Note that last year in November the first group of volunteers from the Ukrainian Legion signed contracts with the Armed Forces, the second – in January of this year, the third – at the end of February, four in June.
