In Minsk, the details of the creation of a regional group of troops were announced. The Russian military, as reported, will not be much here.
The leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, said that the joint regional grouping of Russian and Belarusian troops consists mainly of Belarusians and numbers more than 70,000 people. On Friday, October 14, Interfax reported.
“You know our army – about 70 thousand people. This is the basis. Well, I think it is not necessary to ask for 10-15 thousand from Russia now. Because there are enough other problems there. You know what. Therefore, now we will continue from here We train men,” said Lukashenka.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced that Russian troops of the joint group will arrive in Belarus in the coming days.
“Currently, the decision to create a regional grouping of troops is being implemented in the interest of strengthening the protection and defense of the state border of the Republic of Belarus in order to reduce military activity in areas bordering us.
Literally in the coming days, the troops of the Russian component of the regional group of troops will begin to arrive on the territory of the Republic of Belarus,” said the representative of the Belarusian Defense Ministry.
He added that planned combat training activities will be conducted with them, aimed at “improving the level of accomplishment of tasks to protect the State of the Union.”
At the same time, it is not specified exactly how many Russian troops will arrive.
Earlier, the ISW assessed the risks of deploying Russian and Belarusian troops for Ukraine.
