There were 4.5 million cases of COVID-19 globally last week, down 16% from the previous seven days, with double-digit declines across all regions, according to a new epidemiological report released by the World Health Organization.WHO).
AT Pacific Asiathe region with the most cases from 22 to 28 August (2.3 million), they fell by 15%, while in Europe the decrease was 20% (1.1 million) and in America 13% (907,000).
The disease deaths were 13,541 during the study week, which also represents a 13% decrease, although deaths increased by 3% in Asia Pacific (3547) and 15% in South Asia (792).

The region with the highest number of deaths is again Americafrom 5336 (down 9% weekly), while Europe reported 3425, a 30% decrease.
The country reporting the most infections in those seven days was Japan (1.2 million), followed by South Korea (743,000) and the United States (576,000).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than two and a half years ago, almost 600 million cases of the disease have been confirmed on the planet, 6.46 million have died. (EFE)
