The European parliament rejected the vote regarding the mistrust of the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Lien.
360 deputies voted against, 175 – for, 18 – abstained. Voting took 2/3 of 720 members of the European Parliament.
The proposal for the field of consideration was made by the Romanian deputy George Paprom. Earlier, the EU court ruled that von der Lien and ruled that he violated the transparency rules when she refused to provide personal correspondence by the general director of Pfizer on the supply of vaccines in 2021.
Politico writes that, despite the support of his own European People’s Party, as well as socialists, liberals from the Renew and Green party, many members of the European Parliament were not voting.
Voting – the first such attempt to vote about distrusts since 2014 – announces the growing political opposition to the president of the commission, which, like most of Europe, in the visible one, shifted to the right, which came into conflict with two main parties that led him to power.
Political families used this procedure from all spectrum to claim the commission, whether it is transparency and excessive centralization of power, retreating from a green agreement or accusations of violating the institutional procedures of the EU.
He also shaded the coalition of parties that support the second term of von der -lien, since socialists and liberals are increasingly different in the views with the president of the commission.
On the eve of the vote, both groups threatened to stay away from voting from their fears that the commission had shifted to the right.
