President Vladimir Zelensky signed a law on the registration of 17-year-old conscripts.
On Wednesday, January 15, the head of state agreed on Law No. 4197-IX, according to which, annually from January 1 to July 31, young men who turn 17 years old are registered as conscripts with information entered into the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Persons liable for Military Service and Reservists using electronic office or personal arrival at TCC and SP. This was reported on the parliament website.
The law stipulates that before undergoing practical training in basic combined arms training, citizens undergo a medical examination. And women who are fit for military service and who have expressed a desire to do basic military service voluntarily register for military service.
Also, this law, until March 1 of this year, continues the possibility of registering military personnel who voluntarily left a military unit, but then voluntarily returned from the SZCh. For such persons, the commander, for less than 72 hours, continues military service, the validity of the contract, and also resumes the payment of cash and food, clothing, and other types of support.
Let us remind you that on January 15, the Verkhovna Rada extended martial law and mobilization in Ukraine for another 90 days – until February 8 and May 9, 2025. This is the 14th time since a full-scale invasion that the Ukrainian parliament has made appropriate decisions.
