Up to 90% of military personnel who voluntarily returned after leaving their unit without permission (SZCh) have already been sent to military units.

    .

After returning from the NWZ, the military is sent to a reserve battalion – and after that they have the opportunity to elect a military unit, recalled the head of the communications department of the Main Directorate of the VSP, Sergei Kuzmenko.

He noted that representatives of the units work in reserve battalions and offer the military such a choice.

On January 9, the Verkhovna Rada extended the deadline for voluntary return from the NWZ until March 1, the previous deadline was January 1. Law No. 12076 talks about the “swift return” to service without criminal liability of those military personnel who carried out SZZ.

The commander will continue to have three days to reinstate the military man in service, as was the case in the previous 2 months. “But to all those who think that there will be another extension of the bill, this will not happen. As is most likely, criminalization for the implementation of the first SZCh will return, – this is how people’s deputy Solomiya Bobrovskaya commented on the innovation.

For military personnel who return from the first camp on time, payments of cash, food, clothing, and other types of support, benefits and social guarantees will be resumed.

After the adoption of the relevant law in the fall of 2024, more than 7 thousand military personnel returned to the Ukrainian army, having left their units without permission for the first time. This was stated by the State Bureau of Investigation.

Of these, 4 thousand 396 people have already officially been resumed in military service; for the rest, the process of resumption and closure of criminal proceedings is underway.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, almost 90 thousand cases of unauthorized separation and desertion have been opened.

Military personnel wishing to return to service can contact their military units or report their intention to the relevant authorities, such as specialized defense prosecutors, territorial departments of the State Bureau of Investigation, National Police or territorial departments of the Military Law Enforcement Service.
