Trump believes NATO should not be part of security guarantees for Ukraine. Macron called it a strong argument, especially for the Russian side.
According to US president Donald Trump, NATO should not be part of security guarantees for Ukraine. French president Emmanuel Macron said, reported Le Monde.
“President Trump clearly states this in these words. Although he said things that are very important to me: the fact that NATO should not be part of these security guarantees, and we know this is a strong argument, especially for Russia’s side,” Macron said.
At the same time, according to him, the United States and other allies of Ukraine should be part of these guarantees.
Macron also added that at the time of negotiations, Trump noted that he wanted the United States to reach the ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia at a meeting in Alaska.
“We support this initiative, as well as the exchange of prisoners and release of children,” he said.
Remember, on August 15, a Trump and Putin meeting will be held in Alaska. Earlier, the US president suggested that a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine could provide a “specific exchange of territories”,
As reported, British Prime Minister Cyrus Starmer said the meeting in Alaska did not guarantee anything, but the “coalition of the desired” was ready to expand the “forces of calm” when this moment came.
