About 30 of the 350 licenses will be suspended. Note that this will not be an arms embargo.
The UK authorities have suspended some licenses for the sale of arms to Israel due to the risk of their use in violation of international law. This is what Foreign Minister David Lemmy said, Sky News wrote on Monday, September 2.
He said the decision came after a review of Britain’s arms export licenses identified a “clear risk” that the weapons could be used in “serious violations of international humanitarian law.”
Lemmy clarified that about 30 of the 350 licenses will be suspended, noting that this is not an arms embargo.
“Faced with a conflict like this (the war in the Gaza Strip – ed.), the government is only obliged to review British export licenses emphasized the head of the British Foreign Office.
Britain does not directly supply arms to Israel, but grants export licenses to British companies to sell them.
We remind you that a three-day truce has been declared between Israel and Hamas, which will allow vaccination against polio in Gaza.
Earlier, the UN announced that it has suspended the provision of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
