The parents of three sons, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden, have announced that they are expecting their fourth child in February 2025.
A new royal baby on the way! This Monday, September 2, the Swedish Royal House announced the imminent arrival of a new baby for Prince Carl Philip, fourth in line to the Swedish throne. “Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are very happy to announce that the princess is expecting the couple’s fourth child,” said a statement published on Instagram.

The heir to the Swedish throne, aged 45 and 39 respectively, and his wife are already parents to three boys: Prince Alexander (age 8), Prince Gabriel (age 6) and Prince Julian (age 3).
Children “freer in life”
In 2019, the Swedish Royal Palace announced that the children of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia would no longer bear the title of Royal Highness. Prince Julian was born in 2021, the first grandchild of then-current King Carl XVI Gustaf to be born without any royal title. So will his future younger sibling.
A decision that the father of three young boys considered “positive”. “Today the king announced that our children no longer hold the position of royal majesty. We consider it positive, because Alexander and Gabriel will have freer choices in life,” he wrote at the time.
