In the Desna River, downstream from the Seimas meeting place, measures to reduce the impact of pollution continue under the control of the Ministry of Environment. This was reported by the press service of Chernigov OVA on Monday, September 2.
Collection and burial of dead fish also continues – responsible people and observation posts have been identified in each community. In addition, measures to control the sale of fish in the region have been strengthened.
OVA emphasized that laboratory tests of water samples are ongoing.
“Thus, in Desna near Chernigov, since September 1, a decrease in oxygen levels has been recorded – so far not critical,” the report said.
In this regard, the deputy head of the OBA, Dmitry Sinenko, recalled the ban on swimming, fishing and using water from Seim and Desna for watering livestock and household needs.
Police officers, including community officials, are also involved in efforts to inform the public about the potential danger.
Specialists from the Ministry of Environment and State Environmental Inspectorate continue to work in the Chernigov region.
Earlier, pollution with organic substances was discovered in the Seim and Desna rivers.
