They are trying to compensate for the shortage of air defense ammunition in Ukraine with non-standard developments.

In particular, craftsmen installed R-73 short-range aircraft missiles on the Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile system. These ammunition replaced the standard 9M33M3 missiles. As part of the modernization, the system was equipped with AYU-73 aircraft launchers for new missiles, as well as corresponding equipment for targeting and target acquisition. This was reported by the military-technical portal Defense Blog.

It is noted that in this way they are trying to compensate for the lack of standard anti-aircraft missiles for the Osa air defense system.

It is also reported that at one time Ukrainian and Western specialists adapted the self-propelled launcher of the Buk anti-aircraft missile system to the American RIM-7 Sea Sparrow missiles.

Experts believe that such hybrid air defense systems can be effective against Russian Shahed-type UAVs, cruise missiles or other targets near the front line.

Let us remind you that Ukraine has developed a unique drone “Jmil-90”, which can be either manned or unmanned. This giant UAV can be used to deliver ammunition and weapons to the front or be equipped with missile weapons.
