Ebrahim Raisi noted that Tehran is not interested “in further escalation of tension.”
Iran has carried out “forced” attacks on Israel and is not interested in further development in the Middle East. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said this in a telephone conversation with the head of the Russian regime, Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin press service reported on Tuesday, April 16.
It is indicated that the interlocutors discussed the situation in the Middle East. At the same time, Putin expressed hope that all parties would show “wise restraint” and not allow a new round of confrontation, fraught with catastrophic consequences for the entire region.
“In turn, Ebrahim Raisi noted that Iran’s actions were forced and of a limited nature. At the same time, he noted Tehran’s indifference to further escalation of tension,” the report said.
The Kremlin believes that “the root of current events in the Middle East is the unresolved Palestinian-Israeli conflict.” In this regard, Putin and Raisi jointly called for “an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, easing the dire humanitarian situation and creating the conditions for a political and diplomatic solution to the crisis.”
Let’s remember that on the night of April 14, Iran fired more than 300 missiles and drones at Israel, 99% of which were intercepted by air defense forces.
The attack was triggered by an alleged Israeli strike on the Iranian embassy in Syria on April 1. Military personnel and diplomats were later killed, after which Iran issued an ultimatum.
Tehran called its attack “successful” and warned Israel not to retaliate.
