Through its “daughter”, the Russian company participated in projects in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Amsterdam court arrested the property of the Dutch company Gazprom Neft Middle East (GNME) – a subsidiary Gazprom oil. It was reported by Rossmi that there was a reference to judicial materials.
The lawsuit was filed by investor Alcazar Capital Partners (The Kaymanov Islands), who tried many years to recover a debt from the Iraqi Kurdistan government. The company believes that GNME owns the owner of the Kurdi government, and it can be used to pay off the debt.
Since 2012, GNME has participated in exploration and production of oil and gas in the Garmian block in Kurdistan, and since 2016 it has been its operator.
Alcazar is the “daughter” of Kuwaitskaya Agility, which in 2007 issued $ 250 million of Korek Telecom’s credit under the Kurdistan government’s guarantee. After non -repayment of the debt, the Kuwait court ordered Kurdi authorities to pay $ 490 million in 2022, but in May 2024, the Erbil court prohibited the request to request this amount.
Alcazar has tried to achieve Kuwait’s decision in other countries, including the Netherlands. GNME representatives have tried to fight the arrest of references to various technical nuances (for example, that the arrest decision was received at the address where the company was no longer office), but the court recognized arguments that were unreasonable and decided to arrest.
Remember that the Naftogaz Group sent a payment demand for the Russian company Gazprom to pay $ 1.37 billion in accordance with the final decision of the international arbitration in Zurich received on June 20, 2025.
Earlier, the Paris court granted permission to enforce the Hague arbitration decision on compensation for losses caused by the illegal expenditure of the Naftogaz group ownership of Crimea for $ 5 billion.
