The SBU press center reported this today, October 2.
It is noted that the attacker received the task of collecting intelligence information about the special forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces specializing in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles from his Russian “curator” at the end of the summer of this year.
The attacker planned:
- establish the locations of the Defense Forces training grounds, where cadets are taught to control attack and reconnaissance drones;
- identify the locations of Ukrainian special forces UAVs and their drones.
According to available data, the occupiers were preparing to use their agent’s intelligence information to carry out targeted air attacks on the facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service, the SBU notes.
In addition, the attacker walked around the streets of Kyiv and, like an ordinary resident, recorded the locations of Ukrainian defenders in the city.
In case of successful completion of hostile tasks, the Russian invaders “guaranteed” their agent a monetary reward, which was supposed to go to his bank card, the intelligence service notes.
An attacker was caught red-handed while taking photographs of one of the military units in the capital.
According to the investigation, the enemy henchman turned out to be a 49-year-old businessman from Kyiv, who was remotely recruited by an FSB representative two months ago. He came to the attention of the aggressor because of his anti-Ukrainian messages on one of the Russian Telegram channels. Further communication was carried out through an anonymous chat in the messenger, the SBU notes.
During searches at the detainee’s place of residence, computer equipment and bank cards were discovered, which he used in intelligence and subversive activities in favor of Russia.
While he was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code (high treason committed under martial law). A preventive measure was chosen for the attacker – detention. He faces life imprisonment.
The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
