The Writers Guild (WGA) has reached a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) to end the strike after nearly five months. Bloomberg reported this.
It is noted that the studios have agreed to hire some writers for their television shows, and this number will increase depending on the number of episodes per season.
The two sides also created a structure where writers would receive bonuses for popular shows on streaming services.
In addition, the studios made a proposal for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in writing the script, which became the main topic of negotiations. Discussions on this issue are ongoing.
According to the publication, both sides are under pressure to reach an agreement. Major media companies cannot release many new television shows or promote film projects.
Although the two sides did not reach an agreement on Saturday, they still hope to resolve their dispute in the coming days. Once they reach an agreement in principle, the union ratifies the agreement by a vote of its members.
