This was announced today by the Western Regional Directorate of the GNSU.
The accusation of the border guards by the representative of the Uzhansky National Park in the death of a wild animal (bear) is groundless. The disseminated information is made solely on assumptions and conjectures without confirmation. The Chop border detachment will file a lawsuit against the author of the publication for libel. The GNSU invites environmental and animal protection organizations to join in clarifying all the circumstances in this case, because the border guards did not commit the actions they are accused of and will be grateful for help in establishing the truth, the border guards say.
They believe that the information provided by the official of the Uzhansky National Park about the illegal hunting of bears by the officials of the GNSU is not true and is of a compromising nature.
In addition, the border guards claim that the photo circulated on social networks shows the corpse of a bear, not a she-bear, which was examined by specialized specialists. Law enforcement officers identified the area depicted in the distributed photo and conducted an inspection of the place. The exhumation of the body of the animal will be carried out after the involvement of relevant specialists.
Also, the group could make sure that there was an act of the commission, which confirmed (photos are being added) that the death of the animal – a male bear (not a she-bear), occurred due to natural causes, and no traces of gunshot wounds were found on the body of the animal. The act was signed by representatives of the Uzhgorod department of the State Food and Consumer Service in the Transcarpathian region, the Kamenitsky forestry, the chairman and ranger of the Transcarpathian society of hunters and fishers “Lesovnik”, as well as the hunter of the Uzhgorod forestry. The distance from the place where the corpse of the animal was found to the place where the border guards of the Stuzhytsa department filmed the bear cub, as noted by the author of the message, is about 60 kilometers, the GNSU said.
The body of the bear was found by the servicemen of the border unit during a patrol to protect the state border. However, it is not clear why they took a photo next to the corpse of an animal with weapons in their hands.
Recall that earlier the head of the state protection department of the South-West Front of the Uzhansky National Natural Park of the Veliky Bereznyansky District of Transcarpathia, Vladislav Kamenets, posted a message on Facebook and a photo of men in the form of border guards near a dead bear. According to the Uzhansky National Park, the bear was allegedly killed during an illegal hunt organized and carried out by officials of the State Border Service. On April 16, on the territory of the former Velykobereznyansky district, a bear cub was found, nailed to the village of Domashin. He was transferred to the Synevyr Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center. After rehabilitation, the bear cub is promised to be released into the wild again.
A mother bear was seen with her children not far from the place of service of the border detachment of the Stuzhytsa department of the Chop detachment.
