Last Monday, the 1st, the 2023 edition of the Met Gala took place in New York, United States, a renowned philanthropic event that brings together some of the world’s top stars, including actors, singers, models and important personalities.
The Met Gala takes place annually on the first Monday of May, always being held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with the aim of raising money to fund the museum’s fashion department, as explained by the G1 portal.
However, anyone who thinks participating in the Met is easy is wrong. To enter the event, you must have your invitation validated by Anna Wintoureditor-in-chief of Vogue magazine and responsible for taking care of the party since 1995.
Each year the event has a different theme, which is also presented in the grandiose annual exhibition, where guests need to represent it in the dress code. For the 2023 edition, the theme chosen was “Karl Lagerfeld: a beauty line”, a tribute to the renowned stylist Karl Lagerfeldwho passed away at the age of 85 in 2019.

In 2023, jenniea member of BLACKPINK, made her grand debut at the Met Gala representing the luxury brand Chanel, for which she has been a global ambassador for years, and has a curious relationship with karl.
lagerfeld took over as creative director at Chanel in 1983, being responsible for reinventing the brand which, as reported by O Globo, had been experiencing problems since the death of its founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in the year 1971. karl remained in office until his death in 2019, and jennie was one of the last global ambassadors handpicked by the stylist himself for the position, according to information from Vogue.
To mark their first appearance at the prestigious event, jennie honored the theme and appeared on the red carpet wearing a luxurious vintage dress that has an interesting story behind it.
The look was entirely recreated by the Chanel team from a piece developed by Chanel himself. Karl Lagerfeld for the “Ready To Wear Fall/Winter 1990” collection, known as “Look 164”.
During the carpet, in an interview for Vogue, jennie explained a little about her look, and shared her happiness when using the piece, where she said:
“I’m wearing CHANEL from the 90s runway and I’m so lucky that the CHANEL team was able to recreate the look that Karl did. I am so happy.”.
