During excavations of Bronze Age tombs, scientists have found graves of women buried with weapons.
Recent archaeological excavations in Azerbaijan have shown that the Amazons do exist. The Guardian reported this.
Excavations of tombs in the Bronze Age necropolis in Nakhichevan showed that women were buried with weapons – sharp arrowheads, bronze daggers and maces, as well as jewelry.
Archaeologists have concluded that they may have been Amazons who lived 4,000 years ago.
“This is evidence that there is truth behind the myths and legends of ancient Greece,” said historian Bettany Hughes.
According to him, some skeletons show signs that women actively used bows and arrows.
“The fingers are curved due to the fact that women often use arrows. Changes in the joints of the fingers can be caused not only by hunting, but also by some long-term training. It is very interesting that many bone remains also suggest. that women spent a long time in the saddle. From “Women’s pelvises are usually open when they ride horses. Bones are formed in a similar way under the influence of this lifestyle,” Hughes said.
Along with the weapon, archaeologists also found jewelry with carnelian. These are semi-precious stones that are often worn by high priests. This is a sign of women of status.
Additionally, in 2017, Armenian archaeologists unearthed the remains of a woman who apparently died of battle wounds from an arrow stuck in her leg.
It was previously reported that during a survey of the sea area around the Greek island of Kasos, a group of scientists discovered ten sunken ships and other important ancient artifacts.
