The Mahda satellite is designed to test the accuracy of the Simurgh launch vehicle as it repeatedly places a payload in low Earth orbit.
For the first time, three satellites were launched into orbit simultaneously in Iran. The IRNA agency reported this on Sunday, January 28.
“On the eve of the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iran successfully launched three domestically produced satellites into space using a Simurgh launch vehicle,” the statement said.
We are talking about a light satellite called Mahda and two nanosatellites.
“The main task of the Mahd satellite is to test the accuracy of the Simurg launch vehicle during repeated launches of space cargo in low Earth orbit, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of some new developments and the reliability of domestic space technologies,” the agency writes.
The Mahda satellite was developed by the Iranian Space Research Institute. And the Simurgh is a two-stage liquid-fuel launch vehicle created by the Iranian Ministry of Defense.
Earlier in January, Iran launched its own satellite, Soraya. It was launched into orbit by a three-stage solid-fuel launch vehicle Qaem-100.
And in September 2023, Iran launched a satellite called Nur-3 using a Qassed launch vehicle.
