Rustim of Umarov will not go to the US’s ambassador, but will remain in Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed former Minister of Defense Rastim by Umarov Secretary of the Council for National Security and Defense of Ukraine. The corresponding decree of the head of state was published on Friday, July 18. This was reported to the website of the presidential office.
To appoint Umarov Rustem Enverovich Secretary of the Council on National Security and Defense of Ukraine, ”said Decree No. 496/2025.
Earlier, Umarov served as Minister of Defense. Instead, Zelensky fired the NSDC secretary Alexander Litvinenko.
It is known that in 2019, Umarov was the elected deputy people of Ukraine from the voice party. In the parliament, he served as secretary of the Committee on Human Rights, de -Covering temporarily occupied territories, reintegration, as well as national minorities and interethnic relations.
We will recall that on July 10, Volodymyr Zelenskyy President confirmed the intention to replace the ambassador of Ukraine in the United States and stated that this position could be received by Rustam Umarov. However, on July 17, the head of state appointed Olga Stefanishin as special authorized by the President of Ukraine for the development of cooperation with the United States of America.
