In what seems to be an increasingly common situation, international space station had to maneuver to avoid collision with satellite images on Monday morning.

The ship’s engineers started the engines. Progress 83 just over 6 minutes, raising the ship’s orbit to avoid a crash.

avoid tragedy

Apparently satellite we can talk about a rocket of Argentine origin, launched from Earth in 2020.

It may be Nusat-17, one of 10 commercial surveillance satellites launched this year and operated by geospatial data company Satellogic.

The expected collision was announced 30 hours in advance, giving POT extreme decision to avoid tragedy.

The US space agency and its Russian counterpart, Roscosmos, have contacted each other to prepare for the launch of the booster. Now that its route has been adjusted again, the International Space Station continues to operate with its usual calm.

it’s not new

Report from POT in 2022 indicates that international space station made a total of 32 course corrections to avoid satellites and space debris since 1999.

Last year alone, two of these cases were related to waste prevention from satellite Kosmos 1408, which Russia destroyed while testing anti-satellite weapons.
