The Department of Defense (Mindef) has institutionalized March 9 of each year as “Military Women’s Day”one day after International Women’s Day.
By a ministerial decree signed by the head of the sector, Jorge Luis Chavez Crossseeks to recognize “women in the military” for having “performed an important role in expanding their ability to develop command and planning” in the military sphere.

In addition, it is noted that women lead “units in the armed forces”, therefore they are considered “relevant actors in the field of National security, and in support of the development of society”.
In this sense, it is proposed “to establish it on March 9 of each year for public recognition of the work carried out female staff at (FF.AA.), with the aim of promoting gender equality in the armed forces, motivating their work and academic achievement.”
In turn, the text states that its publication should be made on the departmental portal of the Ministry of Defense, the armed forces and Unified Command of the Armed Forceson the same day of its publication in the Bulletin of the Legal Provisions of the Official Gazette of El Peruano.
