Regional and municipal elections – 2022 last October 2, they once again drew the electoral map, on which regional movements they have won more local governments than national political parties. In total, the movements won in 15 regions, and the national parties only in 6. And four more regions are to be determined in the second round. [teniendo en cuenta que, si bien hay 9 regiones en total donde habrá segunda vuelta, en varias definirán dos movimientos regionales, por lo que igual ganará uno].
Director of the 50+1 Regional Observatory Paulo Wilka raised various differences between regional movements and political parties. In the case of the latter, he considered that they do not give the voter a plus.
“Political parties have a significant loss of prestige in front of the majority of the electorate. And therefore do not represent a positive difference in their election. On the other hand, political parties do not have the resources and apparatus that they can provide to the candidates they nominate under their symbols. They also don’t provide their candidates with program capital, so to speak. In short, they don’t represent a significant difference that allows them to stand out,” he said..
Taking into account regional movements Fork said, “They have which candidates and leaders to politicians who have a longer career, to politicians who have their own electoral apparatus and, moreover, do not pull the discredit of the symbols of national political groups.
Since governments have been set regional Twenty years ago Peru had five elections, including October 2nd. In the first elections at the end of 2002, political parties won more victories than regional movements. It never happened again.
Election 2022: the Cusco case
From Cusco, where the second round will take place Election 2022 between the candidate of Somos Peru and the candidate of the Inca Pachacutec Movement, i.e. regional movement against. political party, Dr. Oscar Matuti Sánchez, a political analyst and election expert, argued that this was because the campaigns were focused on the candidate.
“In our country and in the region, politics is inorganic and is not at the center of the ideology of political parties or their proposals.. (…) Our politics is more people oriented when we see party symbols: Akuña with A, Ollanta with O, Keiko with K, Toledo with T, Rafael with R, PPK with PPK. In other words, we focus on people,” he said.

Elections 2022: how do regional movements differ?
As for the political parties that performed well in the last elections, they include Alliance for Progresswho won in Tumbes and La Libertad and still has options in Lambaek. We are Perumeanwhile, won in Loreto and San Martin and will fight for another victory in Pasco, Cajamarca, Moquegua, Lambaeque and the aforementioned Cusco. Country Success won at Madre de Dios.
AT Ica, regional movement One for Iku won a region and a provincial capital. Carlos Reyes, who took first place in the list of mayors of the province of Ica, identified the difference between his group and the traditional parties.
“AT regional movements leadership is more pronounced. That is, the campaign can be planned in advance. On the other hand, political parties often have to wait until internal elections, which are very close to the election date. So running a candidacy in these difficult times, I think, is limiting a lot.“, he pointed out.

Elections 2022: “The authorities fall short”
According to the Wignac Center, 14 out of 18 candidates for the second round have criminal or civil cases. In Lambaeque, RPP Noticias advised applicants on the street. Marcos Cespedes, a taxi driver, admitted that he knew nothing about the candidates’ profiles.
“Actually, I am not very well informed, like many people, about who could manage us in this second round. (…) LThe last authorities we had are not true. Nothing is being done for our department, no work is visible for our region. The only thing you see is pure corruption, nothing more,” he replied.
There is no date for the second round yet, and it is only known that it will take place thirty days after the announcement of the results. There we will see again regional movements imposed on political parties.
