The disease affects 15% of the adult population and is twice as common in women. Dr. Jimmy Mohamed, a self-proclaimed migraine sufferer, lists some migraine triggers and tips to avoid them on his Instagram page.
Migraines affect 15% of the adult population and are twice as common in women as in men. Those who suffer from it describe torture during crises, a daily scourge. The World Health Organization (WHO) also ranks it among the world’s most disabling diseases. In a video dedicated to the topic and published on his Instagram account on September 26, general practitioner Jimmy Mohamed lists the reflexes that should be adopted to limit migraine attacks.
The host of FranceTV’s “Health Magazine” admits that she used to have migraines and seizures every week. “Migraine is a disease of intolerance to change,” he sums up. Thus, the doctor reminds of the importance of maintaining a regular rhythm to avoid the occurrence of headaches, for example, by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day. “Avoid sleeping debts,” he adds, “if you’re tired, you’re putting yourself at risk of migraine attacks. If you sleep too much, you’re also at risk of migraines. Sometimes I’d fall asleep and get a headache right after.”
Reduce stress
It’s also important to be physically active, “the more sedentary we are, the more stressed we are and the risk of migraines increases.” In fact, it doesn’t matter what activity you are doing as long as you are moving, says the doctor. “The heart should beat, physical activity protects against seizures.” After all, if there is stress, it is necessary to try to reduce it. “I notice that my migraine attacks happen when I’m under a lot of stress, particularly when I was a student,” says the doctor. The latter offers the practice of meditation, heart-harmony, sophrology or even relaxation.
In conclusion, Jimmy Mohamed recommends identifying your own triggers and avoiding them as much as possible. The practitioner claims: this advice may not be enough. Therefore, it is necessary to talk about it with your doctor.
