German defense remembers Rheinmetall intends to double the capacity of the future Ukrainian factory for making 155 mm artillery shells. Currently, the company is in the construction phase. It was said by CEO of the company Armin Papperger, German’s assistance to Ukraine.
According to him, the Ukrainian side aims to further reduce the supply of western partners’ ammunition and develop their own labor.
Initially, it was assumed that the plant would produce 150 thousand artillery shells of 155 mm caliber per year, however, at the request of Ukrainian authorities, they decided to double the power. It is expected that by 1-2 years the company can reach a volume of 300 thousand bullets annually.
The Rheinmetall plant is planned to launch in Ukraine next year. At the same time, the papperger expressed unpleasantness to the slow progress of the project, which assigns the responsibility of the Ukrainian bureaucracy. He gave an example of the German plant Untralus, the construction of which began at the same time in the Ukrainian, but was completed.
Earlier it was reported that German company Rheinmetall and the joint company of the Ukrainian Defense Industry concluded a cooperation memorandum, if possible, creating artillery ammunition in Ukraine.
Remember that in June 2024 the first workshop for repairing and manufacturing the armored vehicles of the first joint adventure of Ukroboronprom and Rheinmetal began operations.
