If after 60 days the dispute is not found in consultations, China may need to attract an arbitration commission.
China and the United States have 60 days to live in the World Trade Organization framework of misunderstandings related to 10% of duties introduced by the United States for all Chinese imports, without consideration of arbitration of WTO. This was reported by the Press Service of the International Organization.
China turned to the WTO with a request to consult the United States in connection with new tariff steps that applies states to Chinese goods. The request was sent to the WTO members on February 5.
On request, Beijing claims that the addition has introduced 10% duty to part of the United States does not match the obligations taken by the American side regarding the authenticity of the most favored country, provided for a number of agreement and agreement adopted under the trading organization.
Consultations will give the parties the opportunity to discuss the problem and find an acceptable -acceptable solution without further arbitration intervention. If after 60 days the contention decision during the consultations is not located, the plaintiff for the dispute of the dispute may require attraction to the arbitration commission.
Remember, on February 2, United States President Donald Trump signed the orders to introduce duties to imports from Canada, Mexico and China. For imports from Mexico and Canada, the role will be 25%, and for goods from China – 10%.
In response, China introduced 15% of duties for American coal and liquefied natural gas, as well as 10% for oil, agricultural equipment and some cars. Beijing also filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization.
