China has launched the world’s largest pumped storage power plant

The installed capacity of the Fennin pumped storage power plant is 3.6 million kW. It is designed to produce 6.61 billion kWh.

The Fengning Pumped Storage Power Plant (PSPP) became fully operational on December 31 in Chengde, Hebei Province, located in northern China. The agency reported it Xinhua.

It is said to be the most similar power plant in the world. It is operated by the China National State Grid operator.

The installed capacity of Fennin is 3.6 million kW (for comparison, the installed capacity of the Dniester PSPP in Ukraine is about 1.3 MW, – edit.). It is designed to produce 6.61 billion kWh. electricity per year.

Since commissioning the first power units in 2021, Fennin has produced approximately 8.62 billion kWh. electricity

It is expected that Fennin will save 480.8 thousand tons of fuel equivalent to coal equivalent and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.2 million tons per year.

It was previously reported that China will build the world’s largest hydroelectric power station in southern Tibet. About $140 billion will be spent on its construction.
