The company is losing a part that Boeing previously produced in a joint venture with Russia.
Boeing faced a shortage of heat exchangers during the production of its 787 Dreamliner passenger aircraft. The reason is the sanctions imposed by Western countries on Russia, reports The Wall Street Journal.
It was noted that before the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, heat exchangers were manufactured at a Russian plant as part of a joint venture between JSC HS-Nauka and RTX Collins Aerospace. After the outbreak of war, production was transferred to the USA and Great Britain.
Initially, the factories could supply all new Boeing aircraft with spare parts. However, since the company decided to increase production of 787 aircraft, the parts supplier became unable to cope with the workload. In this regard, Boeing has already warned investors that it will build and deliver fewer aircraft this year than planned.
Production of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner has also been delayed by passenger seat supply issues. These, in turn, are associated with material shortages and delays in certification.
Earlier it was reported that China did not include Russia in the project to create an aircraft that would compete with Boeing and Airbus.
