Export volumes increased despite problems with routes to Danube ports, which now experience traditional seasonal shallow water.

At the end of October, Ukraine exported 4.8 million tons of agricultural products, which is 15% more than in September. This was reported by the Ukrainian Club of Agricultural Business (UCAB) with reference to data from the State Customs Service on Thursday, November 2.

In particular, the following were exported:

  • grain crops – 2.5 million tons (wheat – 52%, corn – 45%), an increase of +20% compared to last month;

  • oilseeds – 914.0 thousand tons (rapeseed – 48%, soybeans – 48% and sunflower seeds – 3%), growth +4%.

  • vegetable oils – 508.7 thousand tons (sunflower oil – 80%, rapeseed oil – 14% and soybean oil – 6%), growth +6%.

  • cakes after the extraction of vegetable oils – 491.5 thousand tons (sunflower – 86%, soy – 14%), growth + 18%.

Export volumes are noted to have increased, despite problems with routes through the Danube river ports – traditionally seasonal shallow waters that hinder the movement of ships with larger tonnage and unloading barges.

“The increase in exports was partially facilitated by the addition of another transport channel – the sea ports of the Odessa region, which now operate within a temporary sea corridor. However, transshipment volumes through this channel is very far from the indicators before the war, ”said the analysts.

Compared to the previous month, exports of corn and soybeans increased, with harvest currently underway.

Let’s recall that in September Ukraine exported 4.2 million tons of agricultural products. UCAB then called this indicator good against the backdrop of Russia’s ongoing attacks on the Danube ports.
