Energy and Mining Investment Supervision Agency (osinergmin) said that from today, April 4, a reduction in electricity tariffs will be recorded.

electricity tariffs The National Interconnected Electricity System (SEIN) will be reduced by an average of 0.95% for households and 0.77% for commercial and industrial users.

As for electricity tariffs for isolated electrical systems, they will be reduced by an average of 1.18% for residential consumers and 1.81% for companies.

This is the second contraction electricity bills this year, as electricity tariff cuts were already reported in February.

It is estimated that in February the cost of electricity fell by 4.35-4.97%, while in January and March there were no changes.

It is worth noting that, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), so far in 2023 the cost of consumption household electricity decreased by 4.17%.

How is this indicator determined?

Osinergmin recalled that the electricity tariff consists of effective costs for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity to consumers.

These rates are reviewed every month based on update formulas and the value of metrics such as price index wholesale, exchange rates, natural gas prices, fuel prices, copper and aluminum prices.

Another point that is taken into account is the contracts concluded between the generation and distribution companies for the supply of electricity users.

As they clarified, this month’s rate cuts are due to the application of formulas for updating flat charges and value-added distribution (VAD), unit charges for connection to the main transmission system, and fees and compensation for secondary and additional transmission systems due to the change in IPM. , exchange rate and prices for copper and aluminum.
