In all Peru about 11 million micro and small enterprises operate (mips), of which 40% are located in the south of the country, are in uncertainty because protests concentrated on this area of Peru.
“Only in Cusco, 96% of the maps are not working, if we go to other departments, we will find the same problem. Every day micro-enterprises close, and when one closes, the whole family suffers,” said Julio Pardave Martinez, president of the Front for Defense of Industry and Trade.
The protests not only resulted in the closure of some 800,000 people; but also endangered more than 2 million jobs. Added to this are debts acquired through loans from financial institutions.
“Meeps have always received recognition for their payments, but with these two campaigns (Christmas and school), where could they get funding,” Pardave said.
One billion soles in credit was not placed only in December
As a result of declining Mayp revenues, 50% of them stopped meeting their payment schedule; In addition, in the face of uncertainty, the financial sector allowed the placement of loans.
“Only in December last year, the financial sector stopped placing loans for a billion soles, but of these, 150 million are municipal savings banks; that is why the extension of their debt restructuring was approved,” commented Jorge Solis Espinoza, President of the Peruvian Federation of Municipal Savings and Credit Banks.
In Peru, 99.5% of the business sector is occupied by medium and small companies, which create 91% of jobs. In addition, out of the total, 85% is devoted to trade and 14.8% to other sectors such as manufacturing, construction, agriculture, etc.
