Hair stylist explains how to safely color locks to enjoy the revelry
During Carnival, changing your look is one of the main things you can do to enjoy the festivities. For this, many people choose to dye their hair with colors that are the face of the festivity. However, despite the diversity of products on the market to color locks, there are some techniques used that are not recommended by professionals.
That’s why hair stylist Luigi Moretto recommends the best products to color hair without damaging the strands and which ones should be avoided. Look!
1. spray paints
Spray paint technologies are safe as long as the product is applied correctly, without concentrating too much on a single wick. Also, in order to completely remove spray dye from your hair, you need to wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner, as well as add a good moisturizing cream for the first wash. That’s because the paint can leave a slight resected aspect on the wires.
“Even if the composition is made up of temporary pigments, they can cause an allergic reaction, so it is recommended to do a test before using it, dabbing a little of the product on the region before the forearm”, guides the professional.
two. fantasy coloring
According to Luigi Moretto, there is great demand at this time for temporary hair dyes. Such pigments are able to deposit dyes on the surface of the threads that last for a few washes, as long as they are done professionally with the so-called “fantasy colorings”.
“They are all those who flee the traditional patterns of colorings, for example: pink, orange, blue, green, purple etc. Today, most fantasy dyes act superficially on the hair, as a kind of toner. This is because many brands do not add ammonia or hydrogen peroxide to the formulation – products that are used in conventional paints to open and reveal the color”, explains Luigi.
The expert says that the result is a more superficial action and less durability than traditional colors. “The only caveat is that, before application, there is a need to bleach the hair. This is because the ink does not have the whitening power, and the dark background prevents the colored tones from appearing”, warns the specialist. These colorings do not modify the capillary structure and are compatible with straightening.
3. pastel chalk
This is an easy way to color locks, curling thin strands with dry hair before coloring and rubbing the product into the hair. “This type of chalk is not the same as chalk used on blackboards or those made with wax, used to paint drawings. These are the so-called pastel chalks, non-greasy and shiny, made specifically for this purpose”, emphasizes the specialist.
4. mascara for hair
There are already some brands on the market that offer similar products to eyelash masks, but in the hair version. “Since they are made specifically for the hair, the risk of damage to the locks is practically zero, but they can dry out; therefore, the same rule applies as for hydration”, recalls Luigi.
Products that should be avoided
Just as there are valid options in revelry, others are strictly prohibited, even if only as a joke, such as:
Crepe paper
It can cause intense dryness and make the hair porous. In addition to staining and drying the strands, it can dye the hair unevenly, cause allergies and scalp problemsespecially if it is used on children who have very sensitive scalp skin.
gouache paint
Craft paints that are not suitable for hair, such as gouache or acrylic paint, can cause burns or scalp injuries due to the chemical reaction potentiated by sun exposure. They still stain the hair and may take a while to come out.
